When was the last time you checked your gutters? Gutter cleaning is not on the top of most people’s priority list, as they say ‘out of sight out of mind’. However gutters play a pivitol role in the structural integrity of your house, helping to protect you home and yard from the damaging and erosive effects of water.
Having clogged gutters will prevent water from draining properly and the water instead will try to find another method of draining which could result in leaking into your home and through your window and ceiling.
This is particularly important during heavy storm where large quantities of water is falling onto your roof. The gutters need to be clear and clean to help the water effectively direct and drain the water.
The build up of leaves, dirt and debris will encourage corrosion in your gutters and down pipes which will eventually end up having to be replaced, along with any repair work required to fix any water damage. This can be extremely expensive.
Having gutters and roofs that are filled with leaves and debris also poses a fire hazard. To protect your home, gutter cleaning should be completed at least twice a year in Autumn and in Spring in preparation for the increased rainfall in winter and hot, dry weather in summer.

PROPERTY MAINTENANCE
Property Maintenance can take a lot of work. Along with gardening and mowing your lawn you will also have to consider:
Regular gutter cleaning. Blocked gutters serve a purpose of guiding rainwater off your roof and down the drain instead. If they are blocked they are unable to fulfil this purpose and this could cause water damage to your property along with damage to your gutters. Full gutters are also a fire hazard and should be regularly emptied at least a couple of times a year.
Drain Cleaning. Outside drains need to be well maintained and kept clear of all debris at the point that they enter the ground otherwise they will become blocked and areas are more likely to become flooded.
High Pressure Cleaning. Concrete, pathways, exterior walls and fences all start to show the effects of being out in the weather. Regular pressure cleaning removes the build up of dirt, oil and mould brightening up your property and giving it a much needed facelift!
Rubbish Removal & Garden Clean-ups. Most people are guilty of having a pile of rubbish, building equipment or green waste lying around their property that they plan to get rid of but haven’t had the opportunity to so far. A good and thorough garden clean-up including rubbish removal, hedging and tidying will greatly alter the appearance of your garden creating more space for entertaining.
Window Cleaning. We all know how quickly and easily windows can become dirty, grimy and mouldy, particularly those that are exposed to the elements. Window cleaning, especially if you have double storey is difficult for the average person to undertake. Outdoor windows need to be cleaned at least twice a year – otherwise what’s the point to having a window if you can’t see out of it properly?
Having a well maintained and manicured garden and property will not only attract the envy of the neighbours but will enable you to enjoy your backyard without thinking of a hundred things that need to be done or improved to make it look better.
